Fairchild Semiconductor is introduced two new products in its line of
Load Switches that simplify the implementation of high side switches for
power management circuits in battery powered applications.
Each Load Switch combines a very efficient, low RDS(on)
P-Channel MOSFET with a small signal N-Channel MOSFET in the same package.
This configuration enables the P-Channel MOSFET to be driven directly from
low voltage logic circuits and eliminates the need for an external small
signal level-shifting transistor to be used in designs. These two MOSFETs
are housed in a single, low profile, very small footprint Super-SOT-6 package
and deliver a compact, highly efficient electronic switch with low power
losses.
The FDC6325L is designed for small
portable equipment with battery voltages ranging between 2.5 and 8.0 volts.
The very low on-state resistance, even at low voltages (130 mW
maximum at 5 volts, and 180 mW
maximum at 2.5 volts), means the FDC6325L can switch continuous DC load
currents up to 1.8 Amps (5 Amps peak). The FDC6325L is compatible with
and can be switched by low voltage logic outputs as low as 1.5 volts. The FDC6326L is designed to switch higher voltages ranging between 3.0 and 20.0 volts. The device features a low on-state resistance of 125 mW
maximum at 12 volts, and 200 mW
maximum at 5 volts.
