Signal Integrity
Magma Design Automation
Designing high-performance integrated circuits for 0.25-micron, 0.18-micron and smaller process technologies poses a tremendous challenge for IC engineers. Finer geometry, lower voltage, and higher frequency requirements are now causing signal integrity and reliability problems such as crosstalk and electromigration to appear in integrated circuits during the manufacturing stage or even worse, after the IC is in the field. Conventional physical design flows ignore signal integrity until the post-layout phase. This paper describes Magma Design Automations approach to automatically eliminating signal integrity violations and guarantees timing. By capturing real technology behaviors such as interconnect crosstalk early in the physical design process, potential problems can be accurately detected and corrected prior to first silicon.
