Controller
Xecom is now shipping two
miniature embedded microcontroller modules with a built-in Web server.
The modules use the 16-bit AM186ES processor running at 40 MHz. Combined
with a multi-tasking real-time operating system, and 34 programmable
I/O pins, the device can perform data collection, equipment monitoring,
and process control operations in remote locations. Applications include
remote instruments, data acquisition stations, unmanned production
and communication equipment, environmental monitors, security systems,
and process control.

The XEWC86A includes eight multiplexed
analog input channels and two analog output channels, each with 12-bit
resolution. In addition there are 22 digital I/O lines, including
two serial ports and a real-time clock. The XEWC86 is a digital-only
version omitting the A/D, D/A and clock functions for lower cost.
It offers 34 user programmable digital I/O lines, including the two
serial ports. Its 10Base-T Ethernet port and TCP/IP firmware allows
direct connection to a company lntranet, or the world-wide Internet,
via industry standard protocols. Dynamic web pages reporting variable
process data can be served directly from the module to industry standard
web browsers.
Other features of the modules include:
real time clock with external battery backup (XEWC86A only); 5l2Kbytes
Flash memory on board for firmware and application code; 512KB SRAM
included for run time code, page generation, and data buffering. Two
serial ports are available for local or remote monitoring, program
development, setup. debug, and testing. The XERTOS real-time operating
system with multi-user, multi-tasking kernel, and example applications
is included. A TCP/IP stack, thin web server code, and debug tools
is included along with complete example website with HTML and CCI
source code available
Pricing for the XEWC86 is $99.00 in quantities
of 1000. The XEWC86A with analog to digital conversion included is
$129.00 at 1000 pcs. Demo kits with board, power supply, cables, software
disc, and user manual are available.
