THE DESIGN AND DETAILS

The design is assembled on a 5 ý 5 cm breadboard card. A flat cable about 30 cm long connects the board to the parallel port of the PC. The LTC1286 should be used with an analog ground plane and single-point ground techniques. You should tie the Gnd pin of the LTC1286 directly to the ground plane. The power supply voltage (5 V on pin 8 (VCC)) must be kept free of noise and ripple by bypassing directly to the analog ground plane. The VCC pin should be bypassed to the ground plane with a 1- to 10-ýF tantalum capacitor with leads as short as possible.

If you would like to study more about how the converter works, check out the Resources section at the end of this article.
