NEW PRODUCT NEWSedited by Harv Weiner

New ProductsSERIAL TO ETHERNET CONVERTER

The Serial EDAS product line is ideal for connecting RS-232 devices such as terminals, scales, barcode scanners, machines, instruments, PLCs, controllers, gauges, and smart sensors directly to computers via Ethernet networks. These systems allow real-time RS-232 data to be shared with any number of PCs and workstations located virtually anywhere.

The included software enables communication with PCs, Macs, Unix, VAX, and AS400s. The EDAS COM Port Driver software allows serial ports on remote EDAS units to appear to Windows applications as local serial ports on the PC. For other platforms, the Net Link drivers enable users to develop their own custom interface using TCP/IP. Serial EDAS uses a built-in TCP/IP stack, providing an open system that interfaces easily to a variety of host platforms.

Suggested list prices are $570 for the two-port model (EDAS-1025E-1A) and $670 for the four-port model (EDAS-1025E-2A) in single quantities. Prices for the OEM (board only) versions start at $250.
