Test Your EQ•Homerun?

Problem 8—Consider the voltage divider shown. The supply rail (+V) is a 10-V nominal supply with at +/- 2% tolerance. R1 is a 10k 5% resistor. R2 is a 1k 5% resistor. What are the nominal, maximum and minimum output voltages? What is the tolerance of the output voltage?

Answer:

R1MAX = (1.05)10K = 10,500 ohms
R1MIN = (0.95)10K = 9,500 ohms
R2MAX = (1.05)1K = 1,050 ohms R2MIN = (0.95)1K = 950 ohms VMAX = (1.02)10 = 10.2 volts VMIN = (0.98)10 = 9.8 volts

Vout is 0.909 volts +11.6% / -10.6%
