Y2K- AND ACPI-COMPLIANT REAL-TIME CLOCK IC
The bq3285LF real-time clock IC complies
with the advanced configuration and power interface (ACPI) specification
and includes a century bit for Y2K compatibly plus other BIOS interface
enhancements for increased software efficiency with the BIOS.The
bq3285LF is targeted for a wide range of applications including notebook,
laptop, and desktop PCs, network controllers, telecommunications equipment,
and medical equipment.

The bq3285LF integrates standard and
extended memory address bank latches to speed up clock and integrated
RAM software access loops. The new century bit also removes the need
for the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) to perform this function.
Additional features include alarm wake-up capability, 240 bytes of
nonvolatile memory storage, a 32-KHz output available for memory refresh
and processor communication timing, and address index shadowing. The
bq3285LF is intended for 3-V operation.
The bq3285LF is backward-compatible with
Unitrode's Benchmarq bq3285 clock family and can directly replace
existing clocks. It is directly compatible with the clock/calendar
for IBM AT-compatible computers and ensures data retention and clock
operation. The devices contain an integrated nonvolatile controller,
reducing board space and ensuring reliable system operation by synchronizing
write-protection of the SRAM and clock.
Pricing for the bq3285LF in a 24-pin
SSOP package is $2.32 for quantities of 25,000.
