8051
Emulator
The MetaICE-8051-TA
is an advanced emulator for the 8051 family of embedded microcontrollers.
It is capable of breaking on an overflow of a user-defined stack size.
Because the 8051 offers limited on-chip space for the stack, it must
be managed closely. Stack problems can be difficult to recognize and
debug with conventional emulators.

The emulator has
a break on user-set data pointer (DPTR) limit. It displays IP, IE,
DPTR special function registers (SFR), and SFR direct writes in trace
memory. Other features include 2 MB of emulation memory, two-million
hardware breakpoints, 64-KB frames of trace memory with time stamping,
and a five-level sequencer for break/trace triggers.
The emulator
system operates in real time and is electrically and operationally
transparent. Real-time clock support of the emulator system is 0 to
33 MHz and the clock frequency is user-selectable between the external
target crystal/clock and internal clock source. Full support of 8051
bank switching is included.
The emulator software
features a Windows-based user interface with an integrated HLL/source/symbolic
debugger and PDF format manual. Script instructions can be executed
manually or in batch mode. And, command file execution can be started
from the command windows or the emulator command line. On-line, context-sensitive,
hypertext-linked help is included.
The complete MetalCE
emulator system includes the Metal CE emulator base and a typical
8xC51RD probe card. The emulator base consists of the emulator chassis,
probe card and base, power supply, RS-232 serial cable, startup guide,
and emulator debugger software.
The MetaICE system
costs $5000.
