NEW PRODUCT NEWSedited by Harv Weiner

New ProductsUSB-based Digital I/O System

The SWITCH & SENSE 8 provides eight isolated AC or DC inputs and eight electromechanical relays in a single USB compatible system. With no switches or jumpers on the board, the Switch & Sense 8 is completely plug-and-play.

Housed in a rugged steel case, the unit is simple to install and allows users to easily add digital I/O abilities to any USB equipped personal computer. Screw terminals provide easy field wiring to all inputs and outputs.

The inputs monitor 24 VAC or VDC inputs while the output relays provide 6 Amp (Form C, SPDT) outputs at 120 VAC or 28 VDC. All board addresses, interrupt channels etc. are set by the computeręs USB plug-and-play software.

SWITCH & SENSE 8 software provides all of the components necessary to configure, test, and control the device. Its interface library provides a set of functions that can be called from Visual Basic or Visual C/C++. In addition to the library files, there are several application examples that demonstrate how to use the interface library. A software enabled input filter is available on all channels. A schematic diagram of one of the input channels is shown below.

SWITCH & SENSE 8 costs $299.
