REAL TIME OR HARD TIME?
I donıt mean to be paranoid, but I think
anyone contemplating an intellectual property deal needs to consider
possible legal hassles. Itıs hard to imagine something as simple as
ProMic having a big problem, but stuff happens. Furthermore, history
leads me to believe that such concerns will increase along with the
revenues of a growing market.
For example, just recently the Boalt
Law School at UC Berkeley started a new program specializing in intellectual
property litigation. Because IP lawyers need to eat just like everyone
else, I suspect the legal action will be heating up over time.
I asked the folks at Microlor Systems about
the companyıs legal policy
and received the verbiage shown here.
Iım not sure exactly what kind of protection it affords, but it seems
better than the usual "weıre liable for nothing, you take the
bullet" boilerplate. I suspect the fact that these folks are
in France might complicate the issue. Whatıs the recourse? Put a lien
on the Eiffel Tower? If somebody has a problem with ProMic, maybe
the response will be "let them eat cake."
