NEW PRODUCT NEWSedited by John Gorsky

New ProductsHigh-Current Analog-Output Board

The PD2-AO-32/16HC is a high-current analog output card that supplies 90 mA per channel continuously, while the PD2-AO-32/16HV generates ý40 V with currents to 15 mA at ý28V or 10 mA at 40 V. The maximum aggregate output current is 1.725 A at 10 V or 1.625 A at ý10 V.

Output accuracy is ý0.1% with a load between 20 and 60 mA and voltage error equals ý0.01%. For added application flexibility, the board supplies force-sense lines for each of the 32 DACs on the board.

Other features include the ability to update all the DACs simultaneously, while an autoregenerate mode can take data from an onboard data buffer and loop through it a predefined number of times or continually until halted. The standard card comes with a 2k-sample memory, which is optionally expandable to 64k samples.

These cards do not draw their output power directly from the PCI bus. Instead, the boards take their power from the PCýs main power supply. Onboard overload circuitry monitors the current and voltage into the loads, and if those levels exceed acceptable limits, the circuit shuts off power to the output amplifiers within 3 ýs. When the problem is resolved, the circuitry automatically resets itself within 1000 ýs.

Both models consist of a full-slot PCI board with a piggyback module, yet the entire assembly still requires only one slot. These models also provide eight digital inputs, eight digital outputs and three timer/counters available to users.

Both the PD2-AO-32/16HC and PD2-AO-32/16HV sell for $2995 each. The PowerDAQ Software Suite support CD-ROM, which contains drivers for every popular operating system (including Linux), programming language and development environment (including LabVIEW and MATLAB) ships free of charge with each board.
