Backplane CPU Board
BatRay
is a highly integrated Pentium III passive backplane CPU board that
supports processor speeds up to 600 MHz. It is based on the standard
for PCI in passive backplanes established by the PICMG and is ideal
for machine control, voice processing, computer telephony, and factory
automation applications. BatRay has been tested on numerous operating
systems, including DOS, Windows 95/NT, SCO UNIX, and OS/2 Warp.

BatRay features a flush-mounted processor,
onboard support for both 10 and 100BaseT Ethernet, Ultra2 Wide SCSI
using the Adaptec 7890 RISC controller and 4 MB of AGP video using
the ATI Rage Pro graphics accelerator to achieve 1280 ý 1024 at 256-color
resolution. The board contains external Level II cache and includes
four 168-pin DIMM sockets to support DRAM with ECC functionality.
Also included are two serial ports, two on-chip UARTs that are compatible
with NS16C550, an ECP/EPP parallel port interface that can be configured
through software to be bi-directional, and a PCI IDE interface that
supports up to two enhanced IDE devices. BatRay also contains a USB,
floppy drive controller, mouse and keyboard interfaces, and real-time
clock.
