Digital
Laser Doppler Vibrometer
Polytec PI, Inc. has announced the VDD-650-DA
and VDD-660-DA digital vibrometers for high-precision measurement,
display, and processing of vibration data. Conventional laser vibrometers
use analog electronics to demodulate Doppler-shifted light that is
backscattered and detected from a vibrating surface. The new Digital
Vibrometers use the latest digital signal acquisition and processing
technologies to achieve exceptional displacement accuracy and resolution
(down to 1 pm, high linearity and low harmonic distortion over a wide
vibration frequency rangeDC to 2 MHz.)
VDD-650-DA and VDD-660-DA are used in
conjunction with almost any of Polytecýs optical sensor heads. The
Digital Vibrometer includes a signal acquisition board for PC-based
processing of the Doppler signal plus Vibsoft software running under
Windows NT for display/processing of frequency domain and time domain
vibration data.
VDD-660-DA is designed for existing Polytec
vibrometer customers who wish to upgrade and use their existing QFV-3001
controller electronics in addition to the sensor head. VDD-650-DA
includes a front-end preprocessor that does not require the controller.
Typical applications for the Digital
Vibrometer include any situation where the finest vibration resolution
and accuracy is required such as calibration of accelerometers, shakers,
hydrophones, sonic and ultrasonic transducers, measurements on data
storage components (hard drive, CD, DVD), micro-machines, piezo transducers,
and non-repetitive runout of precision spindles.
