Industrial
PLC
The VisionCompact
IA (VCIA) PLC features the Intel low power Mobile Pentium MMX
(Tillamook) processor operating at 266 MHz permitting fan-free operation
from 0 to 50ý C. The new computer is the latest addition to PEPýs
VisionCompact series of industrial computing solutions, and the first
to feature passive cooling. Optional Vision Control software provides
a PC automation package providing HMI, traditional PLC control as
well as direct connection to sensors/actuators and fieldbus protocols.
The VCIA is equipped with up to 256-MB SO-DIMM SDRAM, as well as an
integrated NMI timer for deterministic real-time applications.

The controller
also includes four RS-232 serial ports as standard equipment. As an
option, ports 3 and 4 can be opto-coupled as RS-422/485. The VCIA
incorporates LAN and fieldbus connectivity, in addition to a 100Base-TX
or 10Base-T Ethernet controller. All interfaces are available through
180ý front connectors to permit easy access in harsh or space-limited
environments.
The VCIA includes
1280 ý 1024 graphic capability with 2-MB VRAM and support for CRTs
and LCDs. It is enclosed in an industrial DIN-rail mountable, EMI-proof
housing. The VCIA is OS compatible with and supported by VxWorks,
RT-Linux, and Windows 98/NT/2000.
Pricing for a
VCIA with a low power Pentium 226-MHz CPU, 256-MB SDRAM, 2-MB VRAM,
and an Ethernet 100BaseTX interface starts at $1240.
