RS-232
to SVGA Module
The RS-SVGA
module allows any microcomputer to output high-quality video. This
stand-alone device has all of the control circuits to operate a standard
SVGA monitor. It accepts standard RS-232 ASCII input from a serial
port. Now any system from a Stamp or larger can have video output.
It may also be thought of as a low cost "half of a terminal."

The controller
has a selectable data rate up to 115 kbps. In addition to standard
ASCII input, it has a high-speed "echo" escape option that
allows a computer to quickly move the contents of a memory buffer
to the display.
Power (5 V) may
be supplied on the RS-232 connector or from an optional wall-supply
module. TTL serial input is also available as an option.
The controller
provides all the timing and control circuits for the monitor. It is
protected in a rugged case that may be opened to adjust the data rate.
Upon powerup,
the controller displays the data rate until a character is received.
It then clears the screen and displays the data received.
Pricing is $129
for single units and drops to $89 for quantities of 10.
