QUESTIONS TO ASK
To make your decision-making process
a little easier, you need to ask yourself a few questions. The answers
to these questions will help you figure out where to begin as you
evaluate vendors. When you identify yourself as one of four basic
decision-makers (processor-, RTOS-, solution-, or code-centric), you
will better understand how to approach buying an IDE. However, keep
in mind that you may fit into all four categories and you may need
more than one IDE for different stages of a given project.
Ask yourself the following questions:
What is the size of your development team? Does the vendorýs IDE
scale meet your needs? What skills do your developers possess? Does
your vendorýs IDE appeal to the expert user, novice, or both? What
mix of languages are you using?

here for an extensive list of
questions that can help you determine the best IDE for your needs.
