Two Technologies,
Inc. introduces the CEL, an industrial grade handheld
computer that runs the Microsoft Windows CE operating system. The
device is designed for one-handed operation. The CEL offers a sunlight
readable display with optional touchscreen technology, a variety of
interface capabilities, and the rugged construction necessary for
industrial and commercial use. Applications for the CEL include field
data acquisition, inventory management, warehouse control, and field
inspection.

The CEL comes
with an x86-compatible 66-MHz SC400 processor. Eight megabytes of
DRAM (expandable to 16 MB) and 4 MB of flash memory (expandable to
12 MB) are standard. The computer features a 192 ý 128 pixel LCD.
A touchscreen can create GUI-based applications. An optional electroluminescent
backlight is available.
A variety of interface
capabilities are available with the CEL. One serial port is standard
with a choice of RS-232, -422, -485, or CMOS/TTL protocols at speeds
up to 115 kbps. An optional second RS-232 serial port can be added
for applications that require dual serial port capability. Options
for a PC card slot, Version 1 or 2, Type I or II, and an IrDA port
are also offered.
Other features
include a lithium battery-backed real-time clock, membrane or elastomeric
keypad, line or battery power capability, and a variety of custom
options.
