TROUBLE IN TINSEL TOWN

Unfortunately, all the blood, sweat, and duct tape were for naught. The small puff of smoke that rose as the batteries were reconnected may as well have been a roaring funeral pyre. The robot was toast (see Photo 5), and so was the team as they collapsed in a heap. Turn out the lights, the partyıs over.

Photo 5ıNoll is down for the count. Notice the evidence (wheel flat spots) of the left side (lower in picture) drive train seize up.

No time for tears, though. Barely had the smoke cleared when in marches the director followed by a camera crew and the requisite army of minions, gofers, and stand-arounders, testimony to his high rank.

This could make for some good "will they make it?" and "agony of defeat" moments. "Hey kids, letıs run through that repair session again, you know, once more with feeling."

If it was me, it probably wouldıve gone differently. "Why certainly sir. Hey, why donıt you get close-up shot of the spike? Er, just a little bit closer, uh-huh hold it right thereı."

Now thatıs entertainment.

But the team showed a lot of class and graciously obliged, reaching deep to muster their last reserve of energy and enthusiasm. As they say, the show must go on.
