CANbus
Datalogger
TDSCANlog
is a triple-stack customizable CANbus datalogger that listens to the
data circulating in trucks, busses, boats and industrial CANbus networks,
storing selected information on a compact flash card for PC use in
an Excel spreadsheet. Controller Area Network (CAN bus) is the basis
of both J1939 specified for automotive applications and NMEA 2000
network for marine use. The same system underlines CANopen and several
other industrial network protocols. Safety conscious, CAN is chosen
for its operational reliability due to its immunity to noise and proven
RS-485 physical layer.

TDSCANlog can
be tailored to meet any CAN bus requirement. Being small and portable,
it can be mounted under the hood where it can listen for data on engine
performance, GPS location information, distance traveled, and vehicle
speed. It provides an easy-to-tailor complete solution designed to
survive in a harsh electrical environment. A comprehensive software
library enables developers to monitor information present on the CANbus,
send messages to request other information that is only available
on demand, and then forward the selected CAN data to a compact flash
card or transmit it via modem or cellphone. Onboard flash memory means
that developers can update existing applications without removing
it from the vehicle and can even change its entire program by modem.
TDSCANlog costs
$746 for the starter pack.
