COMPACT PCI SINGLE BOARD COMPUTER

Gateworks Corporation has announced the GW2600 6U CompactPCI single board computer. The board supports the new AMD K6-III processors, running at speeds up to 400 MHz. Its tri-level cache design includes a full-speed 64-KB L1 cache and an internal full-speed backside 256-KB L2 cache. In addition to the processor's internal cache, the GW2600 contains an additional 512 KB of L3 cache. The computer is ideal for routing and telephony applications that benefit greatly from a high-performance system cache.

The board features dual 10/100 Base-TX Ethernet channels, a dual Cardbus/PCMCIA interface, up to 32-MB SanDisk IDE Flash Drive, and up to 128-MB DRAM. Interfaces include IDE and floppy, USB, two serial ports, a parallel port, AT keyboard controller, and PS/2 mouse. The board also features rear-panel I/O support with a line of backplanes that integrate standard PC peripheral connectors. The board contains several additional features for industrial applications such as serial port console redirection, battery backed real-time clock, and a watchdog timer. The GW2600 has been designed to run off a single 5 V supply and can be used as a standalone SBC.

The GW2600 with a 400-MHz AMD K6-III processor, 32-MB DRAM, 8-MB SanDisk IDE flash disk is priced at $1643, in OEM quantities. A low-cost version with an AMD K6-2 366-MHz processor is priced at $1388, in OEM quantities.
