NEW PRODUCT NEWSedited by Harv Weiner

New ProductsMULTI-SENSOR VEHICLE COMPASS

The V5000 Series Multi-Sensor Vehicle Compasses are designed to give drivers a variety of essential trip information. They integrate state-of-the-art sensor technology to provide directional readouts, the inside and outside temperature, automatic trip timer, digital clock, black-ice warnings, altimeter readings, trip logs, and smart sensor functions depending on the model selected.

Standard in all three V5000 units is a large digital compass LCD readout that displays both numeric and cardinal points, a back light for easy viewing at night, and simple electronic calibration. The compasses also incorporate smart sensor features such as an auto shut-off when the car is not in use for ten minutes, and magnetic distortion detection and correction elements that tell when the compass reading may be affected by an outside source. A multiple trip log that stores and records time and temperature information and the time traveled for up to three trips is also incorporated.

Each V5000 Series compass comes with a fully adjustable mounting bracket that rotates 180ý and can be attached to windshields, dashboards, or headliners with heavy-duty suction cups. The compasses operate on two AAA batteries for over 250 h or an optional 12-volt lighter adapter power cord.

The basic model V5000 has the electronic compass feature, inside temperature sensor, the automatic trip timer and clock along with the above mentioned standard features. The V5000T model includes all of the above along with an outside temperature sensor, black ice warnings, and 12-volt adapter. The V5000TA model comes fully loaded with the addition of an altimeter sensor that displays current altitude in either feet or meters, stores altitude levels from three separate journeys, and calculates and stores the total altitude climbed on those journeys.

Prices for the V5000 Series range from $79.95 to $129.95 and can be purchased at Sharper Image, Brookstone, International Auto Sport stores, and other specialty retailers and catalogs.
