Writing for Circuit Cellar is a privilege. Itýs also lots of fun. But, thereýs an added exhilaration when privilege and fun are mixed with assembling useful devices with state-of-the-art components, bestowing the results of that experience to you.

If youýve been following my column in the Circuit Cellar print magazine, you know Iýve been concentrating on networking at the bit and byte level with emphasis on the Ethernet transport mechanism and IP protocol. And, if you were paying attention, I promised to provide some simple yet useful Ethernet hardware in Circuit Cellar Online. Well, here we are.

The hardware is the easy part, and if youýre not sure about Ethernet and IP, Iýll make that easy for you, too. To get you up to Ethernet speed quickly, Iýll mix the step-by-step Ethernet Development Board assembly with networking theory and real-time Ethernet data captures from the Florida-room network.
