Brian Elfman is Founder of CAERE Corp in Los Gatos, Cal. (NASDAQ.) This was the first venture capital backed company (1974) for a commercialized optical character recognition (OCR) product. He was President & CEO from inception in 1969 to 1976. He also designed its products. (OCR then was a mostly hardware challenge. It's now completely a software challenge.) He is also Founder (1982) of AutoSense Corporation and was its President & CEO. This company was financed through private placements of about $5 mil. He commercialized his alcohol breath test technology into a patented ignition interlock device, or IID, that has been in production since 1987. He also achieved passage of a landmark three-year (1986) California legislative pilot program. The Pilot Program was deemed successful winning permanent IID legislation in 1990. This IID is now made under license. (An IID is installed into a vehicle under court order for a DUI conviction and requires the driver to self-administrate and pass an alcohol breath-test.)

Currently, Brian Elfman runs Certified Devices Inc. (CDI) of San Leandro, California. He's now commercializing its technology based on patents pending for a SUBNANOSECOND TIMEKEEPER SYSTEMę and the Elfman et al, breath-test patents. The company expects to bring an ultra precise hybrid voltage regulator into beta this month. If you would like to ask Brian a question or simply give comment, click here.
