Blindfolded Othello Anyone? Have you heard of the game Othello? I first discovered this game as a teenager and enjoyed it immensely. I have always been a fan, but haven't played lately. When Scott sent me this puzzle the first thing that caught my attention was his reference to Othelloi pieces. They are round tiles, black on one side, and white on the other. Hmmm, figuring out this puzzle has really whetted my appetite for playing again. I think it's time to get a board and teach my son the meaning of 'flank.' Sigh, well onto the puzzle! You are blindfolded and lead into a room with a bunch of Othello pieces on the floor. You are told that 13 of them are white side up, and the rest are black side up. You are given the task of separating them into two piles with equal number of white pieces. No you don't get to remove the blind fold and no, there is not enough infrared radiation to heat up the black pieces. So what do you do? ------------------------
i The great thing about writing for an on-line rag is you don't have to explain yourself at all. You can just link to the explanation. So if you want to learn more about Othello, also called Reversi, check out these sites:
