Next-Generation SONET/SDH—Impact on Network Deployment by Deepak Sharma and Vishal Sharma
The telecom downturn has forced carriers and vendors to be fiscally conservative and to try to do "more with less." This means that the existing SONET/SDH transport network must evolve to work efficiently for both voice and data. Various new standards have been developed to enhance the ability of existing SONET/SDH networks to provide new data services. We will look at some of these standards and at how they complement each other.
