Abstract

The MP3 player market emerged in late 1998 with the shipment of the first MP3 audio player. While there is considerable diversity in opinions about the potential size of this market, industry observers agree that it is large and growing rapidly. Like any new market, the feature set of MP3 players is likely to change as popularity increases.
