Ansoft Announces SIMPLORER Power Suite

The
manufacturer says...
Chipcenter's
Nasser Kutkut, Ph.D., says...

Ansoft Corporation today released the SIMPLORER® Power Suite, an integrated software package that addresses the rapidly increasing demand for smaller, more reliable power designs in automotive, aerospace, and industrial automation. "The SIMPLORER Power Suite provides a complete design environment for power-electronic and system designers. Its capabilities far exceed those of traditional SPICE-based simulators," said Uwe Knorr, Vice President of Ansoft's EM Division. "These capabilities, along with the seamless integration of accurate models generated by PExprt, save designers prototype iterations, time, and money." The suite combines an enhanced version of SIMPLORER, Ansoft's industry-leading system simulation software, and PExprtý, the first modeling tool to allow engineers to quickly evaluate thousands of possible designs and accurately predict the performance of magnetic components. It boosts the functionality of both SIMPLORER and PExprt. SIMPLORER now includes:
ý Enhanced DC and small-signal AC simulation capabilities
ý Nonlinear ferrite core modeling capability
ý Various semiconductor and IC models
ý SPICE compatibility
PExprt now includes:
ý Foil conductors and square and twisted wire types
ý Generation of nonlinear component models for transformers and inductors, complete with current, voltage, and power as output parameters for direct import into SIMPLORER

The suite also includes a new library containing frequently used DC/DC converter and other power-electronic topologies. The models are available as switching and averaged versions supporting different levels of analysis. The SIMPLORER Power Suite is comprised of SIMPLORER, PExprt, and the Switch Mode Power Supply library. The suite was developed in close collaboration with the Electronic Engineering Division of the Universidad Politýcnica de Madrid, Spain.

CAD tools can save valuable design and troubleshooting time. Just ask any power supply design engineer. It is only when we are faced with real life problems that we rush back to a CAD tool to isolate and explain probable causes. The process is reversed at times, but it still works. Advanced modeling and simulation tools make the designer's task simpler and reduces the risks associated with new designs. A new integrated simulation package from Ansoft offers a complete power electronic simulation environment for power design engineers. The SIMPLORER Power Suite is an integrated simulation package with capabilities that far exceed of those of SPICE. Advanced DC, AC and nonlinear modeling allow designers to model various components more accurately. Although the cost is higher than a SPICE based package, you simply get what you pay for.
